A classic itinerary in Zagreb … and something new

Zagreb was the second stop in our Croatia by Car trip.  We arrived here in the afternoon despite leaving Belgrade early and driving only on the highway, because we lost almost two hours at the customs between Serbia and Croatia.

We enjoyed a lot our two days stay in Zagreb and it was enough to get the vibe of it because it’s not a big city. But there are many things you will love about it: it is an affordable medium sized capital, clean, animated day and night, with many options to stop for drinks or to eat without breaking the piggy bank. The narrow streets with short colored buildings in the old town, or the wide squares and boulevards and neatly displayed imposing buildings in the modern town – can all be explored at a slow pace by foot. Hărman and Prejmer fortified Churches – UNESCO World Heritage in Romania

5 things to do in Belgrade in half a day

Some are brave enough to drive the Romania-Croatia distance in one go, but we wanted to have a relaxing summer holiday and not to come back from it twice more tired. We split our road so we would not drive more than 4-5 hours in a day.

Our first stop after leaving Romania was in Belgrade and we spent here the first night and explored as much as possible during the day. We arrived here just before midday, took over our accommodation and then went out to explore! No more time to lose, right? Continue reading “5 things to do in Belgrade in half a day”

On the coastline, the landscape leaves you breathless and you find picture perfect spots at every step. #NOFILTER! Continue reading “Croatia by Car”

Travel with your parents | Milano & Verona – part I

No matter what age you are, you’ll always be your parents’ baby and they will be
overprotective with you. My parents like to travel (I guess I took that from them) and they have crossed our country in many ways, but I also heard them wanting to see more from Europe, their trip to Moscow over 30 years ago and to Turkey 25 years ago hardly counting anymore. And so many times, I have asked them to do that. But the answer was: not this year, we have other priorities (aka. we need to save money):
“You’ll go to college.” OK, college finished but then
“You’ll have to find a job, maybe it’s not that easy.”, job checked
“You’ll get married, we need $$ for the wedding.” girl got married and then
“This and that and the car is old and the roof is broken and … we’re already getting too old and tired for travelling”. The list of reasons will never end unless you end it.
So I put and end to it early November 2015 when I called my mom and told her that Continue reading “Travel with your parents | Milano & Verona – part I”
