[RO] Iată-mă  în sfârşit ajunsă şi în Croatia! Coasta Dalmației mi-a fost mereu prezentătă foarte frumos de prietenii care s-au plimbat pe aici înaintea mea și abia asteptam să înnot şi eu în apele turquoise ale mării Adriatice.

Ei, dar călătoria de acum nu este despre marea și soarele dalmațian,  ci despre un orășel cu aer medieval la doar o oră distanță de capitala Croației.

Din Zagreb, cu maşina, ajungi într-o oră în Varazdin. Orașul e o recompensă turistică dar și drumul până aici este atât de frumos! Am mers pe o autostradă ca în palmă, săpată între dealuri încă foarte verzi la început de Septembrie, printre care ici și colo se iveau sate parcă pictate.  Ce bine e să fii copilot! ai timp mai mult să zgâiești ochii pe geam și să te minunezi.

Varazdin este un orășel mic, cu multe clădiri în stil baroc care i-au rămas moștenire culturală și arhitecturală de pe vremea când a fost capitala Croației, între 1756 și  1776. Un foc a mistuit orașul mai mult de jumătate și capitala a fost mutată din nou la Zagreb.

[EN] Last summer, I finally went to Croatia, a trip that I have long awaited for. The dalmatian coast with its clear turquoise waters was always beautifully revealed to me by all my friends who went here before.

But this journey is not about the sun and the dalmatian sea, but it is about a small town with medieval vibe just one hour away from the Croatian capital.

From Zagreb, there’s a one hour drive to Varazdin and the road to get here is really beautiful also. We took the highway, that was carved between velvet hills, still so green for those early September days, and villages were emerging here and there, just like in a painting. Sometimes it’s so good to just be a copilot, because you have the time to marvel at the scenery.

[RO] Poți să vizitezi centrul orașului într-o zi şi sunt convinsă că nu te-ai plictisi, ai avea timp de o pauză de cafea, de intrat prin buticuri, dar noi am fost nevoiţi să-l îngrămădim în mai puțin de 3 ore.

Cel mai cunoscut de aici este castelul medieval Stari Grad sau Castelul Vechi, alb ca varul cu turnuri rotunde și înconjurat de vechiul șanț de apărare. Când am ajuns noi la el se strângeau ultimele instalații de la festivalul Špancirfest, din care nu am apucat să vedem nimic. Acest festival, am aflat apoi, se întinde de la început de August până la început de Septembrie. Noi am ajuns aici pe 3 Septembrie, adică la spartul târgului. Oamenii se costumează ca la moda de acum 2-3 secole, cântă şi petrec și încearcă să retrăiască zilele de glorie ale orașului. Dar nu am regretat prea tare că nu ne-am sincronizat, probabil ar fi fost destul de aglomerat și cam incomod pentru cele câteva ore pe care le-am avut la dispoziție.

[EN] You can have a complete tour of the city in one day and you will not get bored; you’ll have also time for a coffee break, do some shopping maybe in the nice boutiques, but we were constrained to see the most of it in less that 3 hours. Stari Grad or the Old Castle is the most famous building around here, all painted white and surrounded today by the remains of the old defense groove. When we got to it, they were doing the last works to remove the tents for the Špancirfest festival. that had just ended.  This festival starts early August and ends early September, and the people get dresses like two-three centuries ago, they dance and have many shows and relive the glorious days of the city. I don’t regret too much not seeing it, because I’m assuming these kind of festivals also mean a lot of agitation and many people and we really had too little time here to waste it in the crowds.

[RO] De la castel începe zona pietonală şi centrul orașului în stil baroc cu clădirile în culori pastelate şi ornamente albe.

[EN] You leave the castle behind and the you reach the pedestrian area and the city center with many beautiful baroque and pastel colored buildings and white decorations.

[RO] Varazdin e un oraș care nu se găsește atât de des pe traseele turiștilor, o comoară încă nedescoperită, dar dacă ajungeti prin Zagreb sau prin împrejurimi dați o fugă și pe aici că merită.

[EN] Varazdin is a town still not very known by tourists, but it’s a hidden gem so if you get to Zagreb or close by, you must come here because it’s worth your time.
